Assemblies of God Ghana rallies churches behind national clean-up after deadly floods
Assemblies of God, Ghana, urged its pastors, members, and the wider Christian community to participate in a nationwide clean-up exercise scheduled for July 10 and 11. The church described this as a critical response to recent floods that claimed lives and destroyed property across parts of the country. In a statement issued on July 9 and signed by the General Secretary of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Dr. Ernest Birikorang, the church stated, "Assemblies of God, Ghana, deeply condoles with families of Ghanaians and other nationals who lost their loved ones and profoundly sympathises with those whose properties were destroyed in the horrendous floods."
The church called for stronger political will and practical measures to tackle the country's recurring flooding crisis. It described the national clean-up exercise as "the first test of our resolve as Ghanaians to change the pitiable narrative and open a new chapter of environmental cleanliness and sanitation consciousness." The church stressed that environmental cleanliness should be treated as a continuous civic and moral responsibility, not an occasional activity.
