Ashanti North police seize large quantity of suspected narcotics in Offinso, four arrested
Ashanti North Regional Police Command announced a major breakthrough following the seizure of a substantial quantity of suspected drugs in Offinso District. On March 25, 2026, at 10:13 a.m., a patrol team from the Offinso District intercepted a blue-black Toyota Voxy, registration AS 1747-25, on the outskirts of Offinso Old Town near the Offin River. Officers discovered 350 compressed slabs of suspected narcotic substances, believed to be Indian hemp, concealed in four white sacks.
Additional items recovered included Ghana Cards, three driver's licences, a voter's ID, a DVLA vehicle registration certificate, an iPhone, and cash amounting to GH¢120. An intelligence-led operation subsequently led to the arrest of four individuals on 26 March 2026: Albert Nkrumah (alias Abode3), 21; Francis Owusu (alias Skin), 25; Gyimah Emmanuel (alias Corruption), 24; and Theophilus Amoabeng (alias Kwadwo Amoabeng). Following an identification parade, Albert Nkrumah and Francis Owusu were confirmed as participants in the incident.
On March 30, 2026, Albert Nkrumah and Francis Owusu were arraigned before the Offinso Circuit Court and remanded in police custody, with a reappearance scheduled for 27 April 2026. The seized narcotics will be sent to the Forensic Laboratory at CID Headquarters in Accra for analytical examination and reporting. The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has called on members of the public to provide credible information to support law enforcement efforts.
