Asantehene walks 100metres to welcome new Asantehemaa Nana Ama Bonsu
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II formally welcomed the newly enstooled Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Bonsu, yesterday in a grand ceremony at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. After chairing a meeting of the Kumasi Traditional Council, the Asantehene walked the roughly 100-metre distance to the Asantehemaa's palace to honor Asante custom and heritage with a royal reception.
Nana Ama Bonsu becomes the 15th Asantehemaa, succeeding the late Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who passed away in August 2025. She is the direct granddaughter of Otumfuo Agyeman Prempeh I and a niece of Otumfuo Sir Osei Agyeman Prempeh II. Nana Ama Bonsu is also a direct biological sister to the late Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Chief Executive, Nana Akwasi Agyeman. Otumfuo's Linguist, Baffour Kantankrakyi, formally informed her of her enstoolment. The Asantehene will present Nana Ama Bonsu to the Asanteman Traditional Council later this week to conclude her enstoolment.
