Armed robbery attack on mobile money vendors leaves two dead at Fiapre
An armed robbery attack on two mobile money vendors left two people dead at Fiapre in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at about 0700 hours. The two mobile money vendors, both young women, sustained gunshot wounds and are currently on admission at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital. The suspected robbers, numbering about three and armed with AK-47 rifles, attacked the vendors and fired gunshots. A stray bullet hit and killed one Ibrahim, a resident. The lifeless body of a Fulani was later identified at the scene, suspected to be one of the armed robbers, while the two other robbers escaped with their GH¢40,000 booty.
Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Administration, confirmed the incident. Mr Kwasi Asante Boateng, Sunyani West Municipal Chief Executive, visited and consoled Ibrahim's family and also visited the injured mobile money vendors. Mr Boateng told the media that police investigations were ongoing and assured that the Sunyani West Municipal Security Committee was collaborating with security agencies to improve security in the area. He urged residents to remain calm.
