Ampeyo Gyasehene urges peaceful resolution of Fotor Yeye boundary dispute

Nana Kwaku Ware, Gyasehene of the Ampeyo Traditional Area, appealed to the Ghana Boundary Commission (GhBC) to facilitate an amicable resolution of the Fotor Yeye boundary dispute between Ghana and Togo. He made this appeal when Major General Anthony Ntem, Commissioner General of the Ghana Boundary Commission, led a delegation on a stakeholder engagement at Dodi-Papase. Nana Ware stated that a peaceful settlement was necessary to promote harmony, strengthen relations among affected communities, and prevent any possible conflict.

The engagement was part of a 5-day operational assessment in the Kadjebi and Nkwanta North Districts and the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region. Nana Ware also appealed to the Commission to expedite action and facilitate access to mobile networks along the boundary. Major General Ntem assured the gathering of the Commission's commitment to addressing concerns in accordance with its mandate, urging residents to remain calm and cooperate. He explained that the Ghana Boundary Commission is mandated to demarcate, delimit, and manage the country's international land, maritime, and airspace boundaries by relying on established treaties, protocols, and legacy documents in collaboration with neighboring countries.
