AMA appeals for help to trace family of woman found stranded at Agbogbloshie
Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has appealed for help to trace the relatives of a woman found stranded at Agbogbloshie in Accra. The woman, identified as Rose Okraku, is believed to be in her 60s. She is currently under the care of the Assembly's Department of Social Welfare and Community Development.
Gilbert Nii Ankrah, Head of Public Affairs at AMA, said that preliminary information suggests Madam Okraku boarded a commercial vehicle from Kasoa Market to Accra on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Upon arrival, she reportedly became disoriented and could not indicate where she was heading. Preliminary findings indicate Madam Okraku had previously been diagnosed with dementia and was undergoing treatment. Her condition may have contributed to her inability to identify her destination or reconnect with family members after arriving in Accra.
The Department of Social Welfare and Community Development has since taken custody of her and is working to ensure her safety while efforts continue to locate her relatives. The Assembly is appealing to anyone with credible information that could help reunite Madam Okraku with her family to contact the Department through the numbers 0241856401 or 0243211345. The AMA also encouraged families caring for elderly relatives to take extra precautions when travelling or moving around to reduce the risk of similar situations.
