Akyem Sokode Dwaso chief swears oath of allegiance to Okyenhene, appeals for support for education

Barimah (Dr) Kwabena Awuah I, Chief of Akyem Sokode Dwaso, officially swore the Oath of Allegiance to the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Ofori Panin Fie in Akyem Kyebi. This customary process affirms his recognition as chief within the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area. Barimah (Dr) Kwabena Awuah I is the chief of Sokode Dwaso, a suburb of Akyem Kukurantumi in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The Okyenhene urged traditional rulers to lead with humility, respect, and gratitude, advising chiefs never to take for granted the confidence reposed in them by their people. He also encouraged chiefs to honor, protect, and work diligently for the development of their communities. In his acceptance remarks, Barimah (Dr) Kwabena Awuah I appealed to Ghanaians at home and abroad, government institutions, development partners, philanthropists, and other stakeholders to support efforts to improve educational infrastructure and expand access to higher education for disadvantaged students. He stated that investing in education is critical to producing future leaders and accelerating Ghana's socio-economic development.
