Akosua Manu, a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant, called for the equal application of the law following the arrests of two outspoken critics of the government over the weekend. In a post on X, she stated her position has always been guided by fairness, due process, and the impartial enforcement of the law, stressing that constitutional rights should not depend on political affiliation or public opinion. She wrote, "My position has always been guided by the same principle: fairness, due process and equal application of the law."
Manu insisted that the rights and freedoms of citizens must be protected regardless of their political views or public standing, stating, "Dennis deserves the protection of the law and so does Okatakyie. Rights and freedoms cannot be dependent on political affiliation, popularity, or whose side of the debate one happens to be on." She also questioned inconsistencies in law enforcement, citing reports of a confrontation involving the Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs) for Ga East and Ga West, and asked, "Have there been any arrests? Violent clashes with no consequence?"
