Abu Trica reportedly extradited to United States
Frederick Kumi, also known as Abu Trica, was reportedly extradited to the United States on Thursday morning. He left Ghana aboard Delta Airlines flight DL 157. His lawyer, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, disclosed that Kumi had been taken to the Police Hospital in Accra and raised concerns about his client's alleged denial of access to legal counsel. The lawyer also said he was unable to locate or meet him before he was flown out.
Abu Trica is wanted in the US over alleged involvement in financial crimes, including money laundering and fraud schemes said to have defrauded investors of significant sums. He had filed an application at the Accra High Court challenging the extradition process, but the court dismissed the application. His lawyer had previously raised concerns about the handling of the process, particularly regarding access to legal representation and his client's health condition.
