Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as A-Plus, sparked backlash on social media after describing a flood victim as "stupid" and a "fool" in response to a viral video calling for improved drainage infrastructure in his constituency. The Gomoa Central Member of Parliament responded to the video, which showed a resident standing knee-deep in floodwaters, by posting on Facebook: "Stupid man!! You could make your statement without being stupid! You could seek help without being a fool! It is raining so I should go to heaven and ask Nebuchadnezzar to stop the rain or what?"
A-Plus argued that politicians cannot stop rainfall and questioned what critics expected him to do about the downpour. He stated he had previously faced criticism over efforts to demolish structures built on waterways, recalling a similar incident involving the Mayor of Kumasi. The MP accused some Ghanaians of attempting to pressure elected officials with electoral threats, insisting he would not be intimidated, stating, "I keep telling you guys, I'm not your regular MP. I'm not one of the MPs you can blackmail with votes." He maintained he would respond harshly to what he considered insulting or unreasonable criticism.
