Christopher Amponsah died after a bee attack around 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Wawase, a suburb of Agona Swedru. Nine others were injured in the same incident. According to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), 10 people were affected by the swarm.
The nine victims sustained varying degrees of injuries from multiple stings and are receiving treatment. Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and NADMO were deployed to contain the situation. Authorities confirmed by Saturday morning that the swarm had been neutralised and the area secured. The incident marks the second fatal bee attack recorded in the Central Region within a week.
The Municipal Director of NADMO, Charles K. Agbavitor, led a delegation to the affected community on Saturday to assess possible environmental triggers and extend condolences to the bereaved family.
