2026 World Cup: Lamine Yamal leads Spain squad for tournament
Lamine Yamal leads Luis de la Fuente's squad for the 2026 World Cup on Monday, with Luis de la Fuente naming a 26-man World Cup squad which features Lamine Yamal but is without any Real Madrid players. Defender Dean Huijsen is also missing out, along with Dani Carvajal.

Defenders included are Marc Cucurella, Alejandro Grimaldo, Pau Cubarsí, Aymeric Laporte, Marc Pubill, Eric García, Marcos Llorente and Pedro Porro. Midfielders named are Pedri, Fabián Ruiz, Martín Zubimendi, Gavi, Rodri, Álex Baena and Merino. The forward line consists of Mikel Oyarzabal, Dani Olmo, Williams, Yéremy Pino, Ferran Torres, Borja Iglesias, Víctor Muñoz and Yamal. Robin Le Normand was also omitted. Fermín López is absent after suffering a broken foot. Gonzalo García and Marc Bernal are named as nine "support players".
Spain will play a pre-tournament friendly against Iraq in A Coruña, Galicia, on Thursday, June 4, before crossing the Atlantic for another friendly match with Peru in Puebla, Mexico on June 9. Spain's debut game is against Cape Verde on June 15.
