Derrick Luckassen, a Black Stars defender, stressed that Ghana's World Cup journey should not stop at mere qualification, insisting the team is aiming much higher despite a 2-1 defeat to Croatia in their final Group L match on Saturday night in Philadelphia. Luckassen stated, "We are through to the next round, and that is the most important thing. We hope we can go further because that is what we want. We will give our best to go further."
The four-time African champions lost to the 2018 World Cup finalists, who scored in the 31st minute through Petar Sučić. Ghana drew level in the 73rd minute when debutant Luckassen scored. Croatia reclaimed the lead in the 83rd minute with Nikola Vlašić heading home. Ghana will now face Colombia in a Round of 32 showdown at the Kansas City Stadium on Saturday, July 4.
