2026 WC: No major changes expected in Black Stars squad - GFA
Ghana Football Association (GFA) indicated that the Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is likely to remain largely unchanged, barring injuries. According to Henry Asante Twum, Communications Director of the GFA, "It is unlikely there will be changes to the squad unless there are injuries."
Carlos Queiroz, Ghana head coach, has already named a 28-man provisional squad, with the final 26 players expected to be confirmed on June 1. Asante Twum said that "For now, the 28 players must fight for places in the final team." Ghana will be making their fifth appearance at the World Cup and have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.
The Black Stars are currently in Cardiff, where they are stepping up preparations for a friendly against Wales on June 2. Their campaign begins on June 17 against Panama at BMO Field, before facing England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium, and concluding the group stage against Croatia on June 27.
